For volunteers ages 14–17 and their guardians

Youth Safety

Community Connect welcomes volunteers ages 14 and up. These are the rules we ask every young volunteer and partner organization to follow.

Age requirement

You must be at least 14 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 14. If we find out an account was created by someone under 14, we will delete it.

Guardian permission (14–17)

Volunteers ages 14–17 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian before signing up for any in-person opportunity. When you register for an opportunity, we notify the organization that guardian permission is required. Bring signed permission from your guardian to your first shift if the organization asks for it.

What organizations must do

  • Only assign youth to age-appropriate tasks — no unsupervised one-on-one contact with adults.
  • Provide a named on-site supervisor.
  • Never ask a youth volunteer for personal contact details (phone, social media, home address) outside the platform.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal laws on minors and volunteer work.

What we ask you to do

  • Tell your parent or guardian before you sign up.
  • Meet supervisors in the public location the organization lists — never at a private residence unless your guardian confirms.
  • Do not share your home address, personal phone, or social media with organizations through the platform.
  • If anything feels wrong — someone asks you to keep a secret, asks for money, or contacts you outside the platform — stop and tell a trusted adult, then report it to us.

Reporting a concern

If you or someone you know experiences unsafe behavior on Community Connect, report it right away through our Contact page. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 first.
